What happened

United Airlines has officially revealed the cabin configuration for its Airbus A321XLR aircraft, which are expected to enter commercial service this summer. The 150-seat plane will feature a three-cabin layout: 20 Polaris business class seats, 12 Premium Plus seats, 36 Economy Plus seats, and 82 Economy seats. The new Polaris product utilizes a herringbone seat configuration facing the aisle with privacy doors, 28 inches of pitch, and converts into 75-78 inch beds. This narrow-body business class product is based on the Elevate Altitude design. The aircraft will also include a small snack bar and a unique lavatory arrangement with one front lavatory shared by business class and pilots. United plans to deploy the A321XLR primarily on "long and thin" routes across the North Atlantic and to Latin America, such as Newark to Bogota and Edinburgh. The airline intends to use these aircraft to replace Boeing 757-200s and expand into markets where the fuel efficiency of the XLR makes economics viable. Separately, United is introducing premium Airbus A321neos for premium transcontinental routes
