Editorial policy

Every post that arrives goes through two filters before it can appear.

The first is deterministic: a keyword and pattern rule set that rejects the obvious. "Best cards for" headlines, ultimate guides, trip reports, stay reviews, "what does SSSS mean" explainers. This filter is intentionally blunt and errs toward rejecting.

The second is a language model reading the article body against a written definition of what counts as news: a specific thing happening, to a specific program, ideally on a specific date. A route launch, an award chart change, a transfer bonus with a deadline, a policy change with an effective date. Evergreen advice is not news no matter how well written.

What happens when the classifier is unavailable

Nothing gets published. If the model cannot be reached, or returns something that does not parse, the post is deferred and the run is marked skipped. An outage is never recorded as "this was filler". A late feed is better than a wrong one.

Grounding checks

Model output does not go on the site unchecked. Two deterministic gates run on every accepted item: one strips numbers that do not appear in the source text, and one strips claims about airlines, hotels, programs or cards the source never mentions. If a summary loses all of its content to those gates, the item falls back to source-derived text rather than publishing the invention.

These gates are why a story occasionally reads thinner than the article it cites. That is deliberate.

What we do not claim

We do not verify the underlying offers ourselves. If a source reports a promotion, we report that the source reported it, and we link to them. Terms change, offers get pulled, and targeted offers are not available to everyone. Check the program's own page before acting on anything here.

Guides

Maintained guide pages carry a verification date and a review cycle. When a guide is past its review date it says so at the top and describes its own contents as unconfirmed. Editing a guide does not reset that date; only a recorded review by a named person does. A guide two review cycles overdue is dropped from the sitemap rather than left advertised as current.
