What happened
LoyaltyLobby reports that IHG has added the Verdant Peak Suite at InterContinental New Taipei Hot Spring to the rooms excluded from Ambassador and Royal Ambassador guaranteed upgrades. InterContinental Dar Al Tawhid Makkah newly excludes several Amiri and Presidential suites along with VIP and Two Bedroom Royal inventory. InterContinental Hua Hin Resort updated its 1 King and 2 Single Private Pool Suites with Club Lounge Access on the same list.
Ambassador is a paid InterContinental recognition program. Royal Ambassador is invitation-only. Ambassador members get a guaranteed one-category upgrade. Royal Ambassador members get at least two categories, supported by bonus points. Excluded suites already sit on a worldwide list that remains in force. That list is a floor rather than a ceiling. Hotels can still go further than the program requires.
Anyone who pays for Ambassador to land a particular suite from a cheaper booked category will not get that room if it has been added to the exclusion list. Check the current Ambassador exclusion list before booking one or two categories below a target InterContinental suite.
