United Polaris doors certified on new 64-seat 787-9 cabins

What happened

One Mile at a Time reports a Reddit photo of Polaris privacy doors in use on United 787-9 N71108, which entered commercial service on July 30, 2026, after the FAA certified the doors for passenger use. In spring 2026 United added 787-9s with 222 seats, 64 of them Polaris.

The doors had remained locked because they lacked FAA certification. Not every new-cabin 787 will have working doors right away.

Polaris on these 787-9s is a 64-seat business cabin delivered with doors that could not be used. Passengers on the newest jets can now operate them. Other new-cabin 787-9s may still fly with the doors locked.
