United Polaris passenger sat 9 hours in soiled UA837 seat

What happened

A passenger on United flight UA837 from San Francisco to Tokyo Narita on June 25, 2026 said they opened a new plastic-wrapped Polaris blanket and found feces inside. The passenger said they remained in the contaminated seat for 9 hours.

Crumbs fell onto their trousers and the floor. A flight attendant put on gloves after being shown the blanket. The passenger asked to change seats and was refused. Every business-class seat was taken. The passenger later said the pillow was stained and left it unused. They contacted United customer care and called the outcome inadequate.

The account appeared on social media nearly two months after the flight. One Mile at a Time notes the poster had no prior posts and finds the delayed claim and dual staining odd. It does not call the photos fabricated. Even a paid Polaris long-haul seat can leave a flyer sitting in a soiled cabin if no empty seat exists.

Treat the claim as an unverified hygiene complaint and watch whether United comments.
