What happened
Two passengers were taken off Sun Country flight 193 from Minneapolis to Baltimore on August 3, 2026 after a seating dispute, and the flight attendant was charged with assault, One Mile at a Time reports.
The travelers were a girls flag football team of Black passengers returning from the Junior Olympics. Two of 19 booked travelers no-showed. The group was 17. One passenger sat in an empty paid seat the airline could have reassigned. After the passenger's father objected, the attendant had security remove the two, even though another attendant said they would not be taken off. Remaining passengers reportedly heard the attendant did not want to return to that cabin to serve the rest of the group.
After landing, a group member tried to record the attendant, who allegedly tried to knock the phone away. The group is suing the attendant and the airline on civil rights grounds. One Mile at a Time treats alleged "you people" language and the phone swipe as the core claimed misconduct and says the lawsuit's prospects are unclear. Passenger removals by crew often bring little consequence.
