United Airlines to Replace Guam-Based 737-800s with 737 MAX 8s by End of 2026

United Airlines will replace all 10 Guam-based Boeing 737-800s with 737 MAX 8s by the end of 2026, starting with Tokyo Narita flights in April. The upgrade brings modern cabins, HD monitors, and eventual Starlink Wi-Fi

What happened

United Airlines is upgrading its fleet at its Guam base, replacing all 10 Boeing 737-800s with Boeing 737 MAX 8s. The first regularly scheduled MAX service from Guam will depart on April 30, initially on select flights to Tokyo Narita (NRT). By late August, all United flights from Guam to Tokyo Narita will operate with MAX aircraft, and by December 2026, all services from the Guam base will be MAX-operated. The 737 MAX 8s feature 166 seats (16 First, 150 Economy) with upgraded interiors including 10-13″ HD monitors, Bluetooth audio, larger overhead bins, and eventual Starlink Wi-Fi. This investment also includes a check-in lobby refresh at Guam’s Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport. The aircraft are cycled through the Pacific region, meaning passengers on United’s narrow-body flights out of Tokyo Narita will also see these newer planes
