What happened
American Airlines is expanding its business class amenity offering. As of late March 2026, the airline will roll out mattress pads on all international Flagship branded business class flights, as well as Flagship branded business class flights to Hawaii. This expansion follows a summer 2025 rollout where American introduced pajamas and mattress pads (from Nest) on select ultra long-haul flights to and from East Asia, the Middle East, India, Australia, and New Zealand. Eligible routes for that initial rollout included flights to Auckland, Brisbane, Delhi, Doha, Seoul Incheon, Shanghai, Sydney, Tokyo Haneda, and Tokyo Narita, operated out of Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia. The new mattress pad rollout applies regardless of whether the aircraft features new or old business class seats. These amenities are offered in addition to slippers, dual-sided pillows, and duvets. This change reverses a previous cut in spring 2024 and aligns with the airline's stated goal to become more premium
