What happened
Royal Orchid Plus emailed members that Asiana will leave Star Alliance at 23:59 KST on 16 December 2026 after merging with Korean Air, which also closes the ROP relationship the same day. Mileage credit on Asiana-operated flights stops after 15 October 2026.
Flights flown on or before 15 October 2026 can still post to ROP. Members have until 31 October 2026 to request missing credit on those segments. From 16 October 2026, Asiana-operated flights earn nothing in the Thai program. Award seats on Asiana remain bookable solely for departures through 16 December 2026. Asiana will refuse those award tickets from 17 December 2026. Star Alliance Gold tied to ROP Platinum or Gold still works on Asiana through 16 December 2026.
Asiana has already warned that partner awards ticketed before the split will be voided once it leaves, rather than flown as usual. Those tickets may require a refund or a reissue.
Shift remaining Asiana flying to 15 October 2026 or earlier and press for a rebooking if an issued award is cancelled.
