What happened
Southwest is cutting the base fare of new cash tickets and Rapid Rewards awards by up to 40% for travel from November 9, 2026, through March 3, 2027. The reduction posts automatically on Southwest.com and Swabiz.com with no code, and booking closes at 11:59 p.m. PT on October 22, 2026. Eligible fares run from Basic through Choice Extra on one-way and round-trip trips. The cut is off the base fare before taxes and fees.
Only new reservations qualify. Any change after purchase removes the promotional price. Travel days are restricted by route. Outbound flights from the continental U.S. to Hawaii and other long-haul points must leave Sunday through Wednesday. Returns from those points run Tuesday through Friday, with Puerto Rico limited to Monday through Thursday. Continental U.S. flying is blacked out November 28-29 and December 26-28, 2026, and January 2-3, 2027. Hawaii and other non-continental itineraries carry longer Thanksgiving and Christmas-New Year blackouts.
Checked bags and seat selection now cost extra on Southwest, so confirm what the chosen fare includes. Buy only itineraries that already satisfy the weekday and blackout rules, and finish booking by October 22.
