What happened
Southwest will begin opening Icon Lounges in late 2027 at Austin, Baltimore, Nashville and Honolulu, the first four of 11 planned clubs, with access expected mainly through a new Chase cobranded premium credit card launching in 2027. No other access methods have been announced.
Seven more lounges are pledged in unnamed cities over the following years. The new card's annual fee has not been disclosed. It is expected to sit well above the $229 charged on Southwest's current highest-tier consumer card. Companion Pass is expected to remain the main perk of Southwest's new Platinum elite tier rather than lounge access.
The clubs take the Icon name from company history and co-founder Herb Kelleher. Nashville's lounge is planned for the mezzanine of the airport's main atrium. Interiors will use a golden-hour look with local design. Watch the 2027 Chase card reveal for the fee and any extra access rules.
