What happened
Southwest award flights booked with Rapid Rewards points cost up to 25% fewer points from November 6 through 9, 2026, for travel through March 10, 2027. The sale covers domestic and international flights as one-way or round-trip tickets in any fare class. No promo code is needed, and discounted awards show a strikethrough on the base points price.
Anyone with Rapid Rewards points can book. Interisland Hawaii travel is excluded. Continental U.S. flights are blacked out November 28-29. Further blackouts hit December 26-28 and January 2-3. Flights between the continental U.S. and international destinations carry extra blackouts around Thanksgiving and from December 17 through January 5. Hawaii routes get those extra blackouts, as do flights to St. Thomas and San Juan. Government fees from $5.60 per one-way flight are charged on top of the points. The discount does not apply to every route or day.
Existing Rapid Rewards award tickets can be canceled at no penalty and rebooked if the sale price is lower.
Book by November 9 and cancel any existing Rapid Rewards award that now prices lower.
