What happened
Korean Air began offering complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi on September 15, 2026, limited to four widebody jets, with a goal of covering every Korean Air and former Asiana aircraft by the end of 2027. The service is free in all cabins and SkyPass membership is not required.
Passengers must watch an advertisement before connecting. The airline bills it as high-speed, low-latency service from gate to gate, and streaming video is among the allowed uses. Voice and video calls over the internet are blocked to keep the cabin quieter. Social-media livestreaming is blocked as well, which Korean Air ties to cabin comfort and aviation security. Korean Air says it is the first major East Asian carrier to offer Starlink. The airline had no inflight Wi-Fi at all until 2023 and still lacks it on most of the fleet.
Treat the Wi-Fi as a four-jet exception until the 2027 rollout and do not count on calls or livestreams.
