Delta to Add New Leisure Routes and Expand Austin Capacity

Delta is adding new nonstop leisure service to Fort Myers and Glacier Park from its Austin focus city, alongside a 85% increase in departures over three years and a new terminal Sky Club

What happened

Delta is significantly expanding its footprint at Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), which it treats as a focus city rather than a full hub. The airline is adding new nonstop leisure routes, specifically to Fort Myers, Florida, for the winter season and to Glacier Park International Airport (FKA) in Kalispell, Montana, for the summer. This expansion is part of a broader trend where Delta's departures from Austin have increased by 85% over the past three years, with peak daily flights rising from 28 in 2019 to 65 in 2026. The growth is supported by a massive terminal expansion that will include more than a dozen new gates and a new, centrally-located Sky Club. Delta executives note that the strategy aims to convert business travelers into SkyMiles members who also take leisure trips, while also evaluating potential for future long-haul international service
