What happened
The discontinued IHG Select card will cost $99 a year from the 2027 anniversary, up from $49, and its free night certificate will rise from 40,000 to 50,000 points, Doctor of Credit confirmed with screenshots after a Chase phone rep first mentioned the changes. Frequent Miler published without an official comment from Chase.
Chase has not allowed new applicants or product changes onto the card since March 2018, so a cancellation cannot be undone. IHG Platinum elite status and the 10% rebate on award redemptions are expected to continue. Points cannot be added to current Select free night certificates. It is unconfirmed whether 2027 certificates will allow a top-off.
The extra $50 leaves the keep-or-cancel math less obvious than it was at $49. Chase limits cardholders to one consumer IHG card. Applying for today’s IHG Premier Select can be blocked by Chase 5/24.
