What happened
American Express Platinum cardholders will need Fine Hotels + Resorts stays of at least 2 nights to trigger the lodging statement credit from January 1, 2027. FHR still allows 1-night stays, which will no longer earn the credit.
The benefit is 2 semi-annual statement credits of up to $300 on eligible stays booked through Amex Travel, totaling $600 a year. FHR previously qualified with 1 night. The Hotel Collection already required 2 nights. AwardWallet Blog confirmed the change with Amex after it appeared on a test site. Airbnb Luxe booked through Amex Travel will also be eligible for the $300 credit.
The new FHR rule matches Chase's 2-night minimum for its similar $250 semi-annual credit on The Edit. Cardholders who used a $300 credit on a cheap 1-night FHR stay in Las Vegas or Taipei lose that option.
Book FHR or qualifying Airbnb Luxe stays of 2 nights or longer from 2027 to keep the Platinum lodging credit.
