What happened
American Express added more than 1 million Airbnb listings to Amex Travel on October 22 and put a two-night minimum on all Platinum lodging credits. That minimum ends one-night hotel credit redemptions.
The $600 hotel credit is renamed a lodging credit and still posts as two $300 credits, one in each half of the year. Prepaid Airbnb Luxe stays of at least two nights booked through Amex Travel now qualify. The credit still covers Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection. Luxe is only a small subset of listings. Platinum and Business Platinum cards earn 5 points per dollar on prepaid Airbnb through Amex Travel. Most other eligible Membership Rewards cards earn 2 points per dollar. Platinum and Business Platinum cardmembers also get a new $250 Airbnb Experiences credit with no minimum spend. Experiences need not match the Luxe trip's dates or destination.
The Points Guy values Membership Rewards at 2 cents each as of October 2026 and calls the Platinum Airbnb earn a 10% return. Book two-night Airbnb Luxe stays through Amex Travel for the new credits and stop using the lodging credit on one-night hotel stays.
