What happened
American Express added prepaid Airbnb bookings to AmexTravel.com and the Amex Travel app on October 22, 2026, with Platinum and Business Platinum cards earning 5 Membership Rewards points per dollar.
Other Membership Rewards cards earn 2 points per dollar on the same prepaid stays. Those rates apply only to prepaid bookings in the portal or app, not to pay-at-property stays. Amex added more than a million Airbnb listings. Green Card members earn 3 points per dollar on Airbnb booked as travel on third-party sites, including directly with Airbnb.
Prepaid Airbnb Luxe homes of at least two nights draw from the annual $600 Lodging Credit, with a $300 statement-credit cap each half of the year. A confirmed Luxe booking also gives U.S. consumer Platinum cards up to $250 in statement credits on Airbnb Experiences bought directly from Airbnb for the rest of the calendar year.
Book prepaid Airbnb through Amex Travel for the extra points, and put a two-night Luxe stay on Platinum before counting on the credits.
