What happened
American Express will end unlimited Priority Pass visits on UK Platinum Cards from 1 January 2028 and cap primary cardholders at 20 visits a calendar year. Supplementary cards are limited to 10 visits. £30,000 of eligible purchases in a calendar year keeps unlimited access for the year that follows.
Unlimited access continues through 2026 and 2027. Cardholders keep 8 complimentary Priority Pass pre-book entitlements a year through 31 December 2027. Centurion Lounges and the rest of the Global Lounge Collection stay unlimited. The same Priority Pass cap already applies in Canada and much of Europe.
Guest visits count against the cap in other markets, but the UK notice is silent on that point. Returns and credits reduce eligible spend. Heavy Priority Pass use on connecting or LCC itineraries can exhaust the annual cap in a few trips.
From 2028, only £30,000 of eligible spend in the prior calendar year keeps Priority Pass unlimited.
