What happened
United Airlines has announced plans to rebrand its CRJ-200 regional jet as the CRJ-450, introducing significant cabin upgrades. The new configuration reduces total capacity from 50 to 41 seats, featuring 7 First Class seats and 34 Economy seats. Key changes include the removal of overhead bins in First Class to create a larger luggage closet, larger overhead bins in Economy, and the introduction of free Starlink Wi-Fi for MileagePlus members. United expects to have more than 50 of these aircraft in service by 2028. This move mirrors the earlier CRJ-550 rebranding strategy, aimed at improving the premium experience on regional routes while managing scope clause constraints
