What happened
United Airlines is selling MileagePlus miles at 1.93 US cents each under a 95% bonus through October 31, 2026. Bonuses are personalized on United's buy-miles site and can run higher than 95%.
Members may buy no more than 50,000 miles in any rolling 90-day window, bonus miles included, and no more than 200,000 in a calendar year. Gifting and multiplying miles count toward both caps. The per-transaction maximum with the bonus is now 50,000 miles, down from 200,000. Purchase eligibility returns only 90 days after the relevant transaction. Bought miles are nonrefundable and the offer does not apply to past purchases. Miles usually post when the purchase completes but can take up to 72 hours, with the card billed immediately.
A 1.93-cent mile can still work for expensive United international business or first awards. Recent devaluations make bought miles a poor fit for Star Alliance partner awards.
Only buy against a United award already bookable at a better rate than cash, and stay inside the 50,000-mile 90-day cap.
