What happened
American Express is paying a 20% bonus on US Membership Rewards transfers to Aeromexico Rewards from October 1 through October 31, 2026. The ordinary rate is 1.6 Aeromexico points per Amex point, moved in 1,000-point increments. During the bonus that becomes 1,920 Aeromexico points for every 1,000 Amex points, a 1:1.92 ratio.
The extra 20% is included in the posted transfer rate, and there is no cap on repeat transfers. Membership Rewards members in the United States qualify. Aeromexico still applies carrier-imposed surcharges on award tickets. Altering or dropping those tickets is expensive, and customer service can be difficult.
One-way business seats out of Mexico to other North American cities cost 36,000 to 52,000 points in low season and 43,000 to 72,000 in high season. Flights to Europe price at 150,000 points in low season and 180,000 in high season. Northeast Asia is 230,000 points in low season and 326,000 in high season. One Mile at a Time would skip the transfer without a specific award already planned. Hold the points unless that booking can be ticketed today.
