What happened
Southwest is selling Rapid Rewards points at a member-dependent 40%, 45% or 50% discount from September 2 through October 2, 2026, Central Time. Buyers must purchase at least 3,000 points per transaction in blocks of 1,000. The cap is 60,000 points per transaction and per day, with no calendar-year maximum.
Purchased points take up to 72 hours to post. Official terms exclude gifted and transferred point purchases. Purchases are nonrefundable and nonreversible. Prices apply only while logged in and are subject to change.
A point bought at 40% off costs 1.8 cents. A Wanna Get Away award is worth 1.2 cents a point. Southwest uses dynamic award pricing, so paying cash is often cheaper and still earns Rapid Rewards.
