What happened
Southwest is doubling Rapid Rewards base-fare points on paid flights booked September 18 through 21, 2026, for members who register and complete travel by December 16, 2026.
Members must register before travel. Travel booked or flown before registration does not qualify. The bonus applies to the base fare only and doubles the usual rate by fare type, so Basic tickets earn 4 points per dollar and Choice Extra tickets earn 28 points per dollar. Points post within 72 hours after the entire ticket is flown. Cash + Points bookings earn only on the dollar portion of the base fare.
Reward travel does not qualify, nor do Companion Pass tickets or most bookings made through online travel agencies. Itinerary changes after purchase may void the bonus, and the offer cannot be combined with any other promotion. The extra points do not count toward elite status or Companion Pass.
Register and book any planned Southwest fall trip by September 21, 2026, if doubling the points is worth locking in the dates.
