What happened
Lufthansa will require AiRail passengers at Frankfurt Airport to drop and collect bags in Terminal 1 from 26 October 2026, a 7-10 minute walk from the long-distance train station. Dedicated AiRail check-in counters and baggage services close that day. The airline calls the path short and barrier-free.
Bag drop shifts to Terminal 1's regular check-in areas. Travel class decides between self-service bag-drop kiosks and staffed counters. Arriving passengers collect luggage at Terminal 1 reclaim instead of an AiRail distribution system. Combined rail or bus plus flight bookings keep delay connection guarantees. Miles & More credit is unchanged. First Class Terminal access remains, but bags still have to be taken from the station.
Frequent flyers connecting on Lufthansa or Miles & More tickets lose the station-side bag drop and must walk luggage to Terminal 1.
