Lufthansa Closes CityLine Effective Immediately & Other Capacity Reductions

Lufthansa Group has announced an accelerated implementation of its corporate strategy, citing increased kerosene costs and labor disputes. The measures include three steps: 1. Immediate removal of Lufthansa CityLine’s 27 operational CRJ aircraft from the flight program, effective the day after the announcement. 2. At the end of the summer schedule (October), retirement of the last four A340-600s and grounding of two Boeing 747-400s. 3. During the 2026/2027 winter schedule, a reduction of five aircraft in the Lufthansa core brand's short- and medium-haul program, with nine additional A350-900s allocated to Discover Airlines.
