Jakarta CGK stays closed as Anak Krakatau ash grounds flights

Ash from Mount Anak Krakatau reached Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which has stayed closed since early Sunday morning. Reopening has been delayed every few hours.

Foreign airlines cancelled Monday Jakarta flights through early afternoon local time. On 6 September 2026 Singapore Airlines cancelled Jakarta flights, among them SQ968, and has since taken most of the week's Jakarta inventory down. Ash shutdowns are more familiar at Bali than at Jakarta.

Holders of Jakarta tickets or awards face cancellations and little remaining space, especially on Singapore Airlines. Rebook or reroute CGK trips instead of waiting for another hourly extension.
