IHG adds Yokohama, Taipei and Sydney suites to Ambassador exclusions

What happened

LoyaltyLobby reports that Ambassador and Royal Ambassador guaranteed upgrades no longer cover additional suites at InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 as well as at InterContinental Taipei and InterContinental Sydney.

Ambassador is a paid InterContinental recognition program and Royal Ambassador is granted by invitation. Ambassadors get a guaranteed one-category upgrade and Royal Ambassadors get at least 2, with bonus points backing the benefit. Hotels often upgrade beyond the written terms, but excluded suites are outside that guarantee.

The new exclusions at Yokohama Pier 8 are 2 One Bedroom Corner Suites with Club Lounge Access. InterContinental Taipei added many high-end rooms, including residential and presidential suites. InterContinental Sydney added the 2 Queen 1 Bedroom Suite Bridge View. A long-standing exclusion list already covers many other InterContinental hotels throughout Asia-Pacific, with further properties in Australia and Europe. Members who want a specific suite usually book one category below, or 2 below for Royal Ambassador, unless that suite is excluded.

Check the Ambassador exclusion list before booking one category below a target suite at Yokohama Pier 8 or the newly listed hotels in Taipei and Sydney.
