What happened
World of Hyatt on October 1, 2026 ended its automatic 500-point nightly bonus at newly added hotels and now requires the New Hotel Member Bonus Offer rate for matching points, capped at 25,000 bonus points per stay.
The match is typically 5 extra points per dollar at most brands and 2.5 extra at Hyatt Studios on eligible room rates and incidentals. Eligible spend on a $300 night now produces 1,500 bonus points, not 500. Nights above about $100 in eligible spend beat the old payout, and cheaper nights can earn less. Award nights no longer qualify. Special rates are excluded, and the promotional rate can cost more than other rooms. The bonus applies to at most 3 rooms. The October 2026 list covers 64 hotels, up from 32 in September 2026, each with its own stay-date window.
Compare that rate against cheaper options and book it only when eligible spend makes the extra points worth any higher price.
