The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has certified the Boeing 737 MAX 7, issuing an amended type certificate and updated Production Limitation Record. The certification required key improvements to flight-control software, flightcrew alerting systems, and the engine anti-ice system to address NTSB recommendations and the Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act. The 737 MAX 7 is designed primarily for Southwest Airlines, which has 269 of the aircraft on order. The plane seats 135-160 passengers with a range of up to 3,800 nautical miles. It serves as the updated version of the 737-700, allowing Southwest to execute a 1:1 fleet renewal for its smaller aircraft segment, as other airlines have focused on the larger MAX 8 and MAX 9 variants
