What happened
American Airlines is paying 50 AAdvantage miles per dollar on Stand Up To Cancer donations of $25 to $10,000 made with a U.S.-issued AAdvantage Mastercard from August 13 through September 30, 2026. The 50x rate stops when combined qualifying donations hit $5 million, even before September 30.
Gifts of $25 or more paid another way earn 25 miles per dollar, with no published cap. Those miles are redeemable for awards only. They do not count as Loyalty Points and do not advance elite or Million Miler status. Checkout automatically selects covering transaction costs of as much as 4.9%. That box can be unchecked. Posting can take several weeks. American says the miles should credit by December 1, 2026.
Stand Up To Cancer values each mile at 3 cents for tax purposes, which can cancel a deduction at the 50x rate. Give only against a donation already planned, paid with a U.S.-issued AAdvantage Mastercard before September 30 or the $5 million cap.
