What happened
A December restart of Delta's 5,000-mile Boston-Honolulu nonstop will last only a few holiday weeks, with every flight gone as of January 5, 2027.
This is Delta's second cut of the city pair in three years. Delta and Hawaiian once operated the flight, formerly the longest U.S. domestic route, and ended it in 2025 on weak demand. Delta had earlier in the year said it would restore New England-Honolulu flying as part of a Hawaii expansion. The airline said it regularly reshapes its network to match demand and will contact affected customers with other options.
Anyone holding a ticket beyond January 5, 2027 can be shifted onto connecting flights in place of the nonstop. In one January case, Delta rebooked a passenger out over Los Angeles and back through Detroit. Delta is still planning its largest Hawaii winter schedule, which includes new Minneapolis-Maui service. Honolulu nonstops remain from nearly all hubs other than Boston and LaGuardia.
Treat Boston-Honolulu nonstops as gone after January 5, 2027, and if a ticket already runs past that date, wait for Delta to rebook or request a different routing.
