What happened
Delta and Virgin Atlantic would lose more than a decade of shared Terminal 3 operations at Heathrow under a 2028 reshuffle that CEO Ed Bastian called short-sighted. He said the decision was bad for consumers and that Delta will pursue all available remedies. The airline has not filed a lawsuit, and existing flights are unchanged.
Heathrow said a three-year review produced the wider terminal changes and that airlines representing 81% of its passenger traffic support the outcome. That share measures carrier traffic, not traveler opinion. The two airlines have sold easy connections and a joint premium product from the same terminal. Delta passengers who qualify still use Virgin's Terminal 3 Clubhouse, which has helped sell some transatlantic business-class tickets.
Operating from Terminal 4 would send connecting passengers between terminals and would likely cut practical Clubhouse access. Nothing to rebook today, but watch whether Delta's challenge keeps both airlines in Terminal 3 through 2028.
