What happened
Chase refreshed the US Aeroplan co-brand on September 10 into the Chase Air Canada Aeroplan Credit Card, raising the annual fee from $95 to $195 and adding automatic Aeroplan 25K status with no spend requirement. Existing cardmembers keep the $95 fee until a renewal on or after December 1.
Automatic 25K status replaces the old $15,000 annual spend requirement after the introductory period. Cardholders also receive 15% off eligible Air Canada awards booked with Aeroplan points. Statement credits for Air Canada purchases run up to $100 a year as two $50 credits, though only one $50 credit is offered for the rest of 2026.
The card now pays 3x on Air Canada purchases and 3x on all other travel. Eligible Air Canada flights pay up to 5x as a 25K member. Dining and grocery fell from 3x to 2x. The monthly 500-point spending bonus is gone. New applicants can earn 75,000 bonus Aeroplan points after $4,000 in 3 months plus 40,000 more after $20,000 in the first year.
Current holders should weigh automatic 25K status and the Air Canada credits against $195 a year. Anyone who wants the card should apply while the 115,000-point welcome bonus is available.
