What happened
British Airways has opened a codeshare with Mexican low-cost carrier Viva, already on sale for travel from 28 March 2027. The BA code covers 13 Viva destinations sold as one British Airways ticket connecting via Mexico City or Cancun.
Members of The British Airways Club earn Avios and tier points on the codeshare segments when they book on ba.com. Travellers starting in Mexico can connect over Mexico City or Cancun onto BA flights to London and more than 200 destinations beyond. Passengers on BA coded Viva flights receive British Airways baggage rules rather than Viva's unbundled bags.
Viva's cabin stays low-cost. The codeshare takes effect at the start of the IATA 2027 summer season.
Book on ba.com for cities beyond Mexico City or Cancun from 28 March 2027 and expect Viva's cabin.
