What happened
American Express is paying a 30% bonus on U.S. Membership Rewards transfers to Avios from 12:00 a.m. MT on August 3 through 11:59 p.m. MT on September 27, 2026. Aer Lingus and Iberia are included with British Airways. Each transfer must be at least 1,000 Membership Rewards points. Bonus Avios can take up to 72 hours to appear in The British Airways Club account.
U.S. Membership Rewards members enrolled in The British Airways Club with linked cards in good standing qualify. Accounts linked only to a legacy card or Amex checking products are ineligible, as are accounts Amex has flagged for abuse. Amex can alter or end the offer at any time. Transferred points follow British Airways Club rules and cannot return to Membership Rewards.
Avios can be moved free of charge to other Avios programs such as Finnair and Qatar Airways. Iberia and Qatar Airways redemptions carry lower surcharges than British Airways premium awards.
Transfer by September 27, 2026 only against an Avios award that can be booked today.
