Amex requires two-night FHR stays for $300 lodging credit from 2027

What happened

American Express will require a two-night Fine Hotels + Resorts stay from January 1, 2027 for U.S. personal and Business Platinum cardholders to use the $300 semi-annual lodging credit. The credit remains up to $300 from January through June and up to $300 from July through December.

Hotel Collection already required two nights, leaving FHR as the last one-night path. The Hotel Credit becomes a Lodging Credit that also covers prepaid Airbnb Luxe bookings through Amex Travel, with the same two-night minimum. Only the statement credit is restricted. Other FHR benefits are unchanged.

After a confirmed qualifying Luxe booking, cardholders can use up to $250 a year in Airbnb Experiences credits through year-end, which can reverse if the Luxe stay is cancelled. View from the Wing notes that a one-night FHR stay prepaid in 2026 for 2027 travel is expected to follow current rules, because the credit follows the prepaid charge date.

Prepay remaining one-night FHR stays in 2026, then use two-night FHR or Airbnb Luxe bookings to keep the lodging credit after January 1, 2027.
