American Airlines Increases Miles Required for First Class Awards to Asia

American Airlines has raised the AAdvantage mile cost for First Class awards from the US to Asia 1 and 2, with business class pricing also showing volatility

What happened

American Airlines has implemented an unannounced increase in the number of AAdvantage miles required for First Class award itineraries from the contiguous US to Asia 1 (Japan, Korea) and Asia 2 (China, Singapore, Thailand, etc.). Searches on AA's website show First Class awards are now priced significantly higher than the published chart value of 95,000 miles. Business class pricing is also affected, though less uniformly, with some awards still at published levels while others are higher. The change may be specific to North America to Asia routes, as recent awards within the Asia-Pacific region appear unchanged
