WestJet initiated an "organized take-down" of its network, canceling 309 flights scheduled for Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1, 2026. The cancellations were a response to the union's notice to strike and the inability to reach a new agreement. The airline stated these actions were taken to ensure network integrity and minimize the risk of stranding guests and aircraft. As of 11 p.m. MT on Saturday, 33 cancellations remained.
