What happened
Philippine Airlines is charging US$199 for Elite and US$349 for Premier Elite matches into Mabuhay Miles through StatusMatch.com, with every match ending on 29 February 2028. Direct matches cover more than 80 airline programs. Hotel status and credit-card status do not qualify, and United States residents are excluded.
Canadian residents may apply. Aeroplan 25K and 35K map to Elite, as does WestJet Silver. Aeroplan 50K and above maps to Premier Elite, as do WestJet Gold and Platinum. Members who qualify for both can still buy Elite and save US$150. A Premier Elite match omits the two Upgrade Travel Certificates that usually come with that level. Extra baggage is 10 kg at Elite and 30 kg or one piece at Premier Elite. Lounge access and extra bags apply only on Philippine Airlines until alliance entry, including Vancouver and Toronto flights to Manila.
PAL is expected to join oneworld in the second half of 2027, with Elite likely becoming Ruby and Premier Elite Sapphire, but mapping is unconfirmed. Canadians with qualifying airline elite who fly PAL should weigh Elite against Premier Elite now, because a later application still ends on 29 February 2028.
