Harbour Air will buy Pacific Coastal, combining 59 aircraft

What happened

Harbour Air announced on September 15, 2026, that it will acquire privately owned Pacific Coastal, keeping both names in a Canadian-owned group of 59 aircraft. Together they would serve 25 communities with up to 300 daily flights. The deal still requires approval and closing, and the airlines will keep operating independently until then.

Harbour Air flies coastal seaplanes with up to 200 daily flights to 13 destinations and uses Vancouver's downtown harbour terminal. Pacific Coastal, based at the city's South Terminal, adds turboprops and interior routes that reach Kelowna and Prince George. Harbour Air CEO Bert van der Stege will lead the group. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The companies promise one loyalty offering but have not said whether Harbour Air Club will expand or be replaced. Harbour Air earns Aeroplan on some fares, but award redemptions have not launched. Pacific Coastal's Air Miles redemptions and WestJet interline stay in place for now. Nothing to do yet, but watch for closing and any details on a combined loyalty product or Harbour Air Aeroplan awards.
