What happened
RBC is offering a record-high welcome bonus on the RBC ION+ Visa credit card. Cardholders can earn up to 28,000 Avion points: 7,000 upon approval, 14,000 after spending $1,500 in the first six months, and a further 7,000 on the first card anniversary. This offer is valid until November 4, 2026. The ION+ carries a $48 annual fee and earns 3 Avion points per dollar on groceries, dining, food delivery, gas, rideshare, transit, EV charging, streaming, digital gaming, and subscriptions. It also includes mobile device insurance and purchase security. For comparison, the no-annual-fee RBC ION Visa offers up to 14,000 Avion points (7,000 on approval, 7,000 after $500 spend in 3 months) with 1.5x earning on similar categories. Avion points can transfer to WestJet, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and American Airlines (though the latter two require an Avion-tier card like the ION+)
