Porter Airlines Inaugurates Montreal's New MET Airport (YHU) With Domestic Service

Porter Airlines and Pascan Aviation have inaugurated Montreal's new secondary airport, MET (YHU), on June 16, 2026. Porter will operate nonstop flights to 11 Canadian destinations using Dash 8-Q400 and E195-E2 aircraft

What happened

Porter Airlines and Canadian regional carrier Pascan Aviation inaugurated the Montreal Metropolitan Airport (YHU) on Monday, June 16, 2026. Located 10 miles east of downtown Montreal, the new terminal serves as a complement to the larger Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL). Porter will initially operate nonstop flights to 11 destinations across Canada from YHU by June 22, 2026. Destinations include Calgary, Charlottetown, Edmonton, Halifax, Hamilton, Moncton, St. John's, Toronto (Billy Bishop), Vancouver, and Winnipeg. Pascan serves four additional destinations. Currently, YHU is restricted to domestic flights due to an exclusivity clause held by the operator of YUL, barring international flights for now. Porter and airport operators are monitoring the possibility of lifting these restrictions in the future. The new terminal features a modern, single-story design with a double-height lobby
