Qantas has announced that its "Project Sunrise" nonstop service will launch between Sydney (SYD) and London (LHR) in October 2027, with tickets going on sale in February 2027. This marks the first regularly scheduled nonstop flight between Australia's East Coast and the UK. The service will utilize the Airbus A350-1000ULR, featuring a sparse 238-seat configuration across four cabins: 6 First, 52 Business, 40 Premium Economy, and 140 Economy (33" pitch). The airline is ordering 12 of these aircraft to support the route. While New York (JFK) was previously confirmed as a second route, London takes precedence for the inaugural launch. Existing one-stop services via Perth and Singapore will continue to operate alongside the new nonstop option
