What happened
Flying Blue now lets members redeem miles for Qantas-marketed and operated Premium Economy and First awards on routes such as Sydney to Los Angeles. Economy and Business were already bookable.
The change extends a 2019 Air France-KLM and Qantas partnership that was expanded in July 2025. Other Qantas flights such as Singapore to Melbourne show up when space exists. Award inventory is scarce and availability differs by flight and date. Partner awards on Flying Blue often prove a poor deal because of high mileage requirements plus carrier or fuel surcharges.
Ultimate members can use Qantas First Lounges in Los Angeles and Melbourne. Sydney's lounge is open to them too. Singapore's Qantas First Lounge stays off limits because of airport restrictions.
Search Flying Blue for Qantas Premium Economy and First, then compare the mileage cost and surcharges with other programs.
