Flying Blue delays 50% SAF XP hike to 1 December 2026

What happened

Flying Blue raised the cost of XP from SAF and charity contributions from €10 to €15 on 2 November 2026 without notice, then restored the old rate from 4 November 2026 and postponed the 50% hike until 1 December 2026. Tiffany Funk, head of Flying Blue, later said members got no notice and unclear messaging. The site continued to display €10 per XP. Any contributions posted since 2 November 2026 will be adjusted back to €10 per XP.

The hike applies to members earning XP through SAF purchases or charitable contributions. Flying Blue says even at €15 it will still credit SAF XP more generously than other programs, including on award tickets. The group frames the change as keeping elite status balanced between flying and ground earning. The program also says this earning path is not guaranteed and can be rebalanced against flying XP.

Members finishing status with SAF or charity XP should buy at €10 before 1 December 2026, when the cost becomes €15.
