Alaska opens Atmos Rewards 2027 earning choice from Oct. 1

What happened

From Oct. 1, 2026, Atmos Rewards members can log in and choose how Alaska and Hawaiian flights earn both redeemable points and elite status points for travel on or after Jan. 1, 2027. Members who pick miles flown earn 1 point and 1 status point per mile. Those who pick dollars spent earn 5 points and 5 status points per $1 of airfare. Those who pick segments earn 500 points and 500 status points per flight.

The choice applies only to points and status points earned from flying and leaves cobranded credit-card status points untouched. A method can be changed only once per calendar year. Existing members who do not choose remain on the traditional miles-flown model. New members who do not choose earn on a revenue basis.

Segment earning reaches Atmos Silver at 20,000 status points after 40 segments. Log in from Oct. 1 and set the 2027 earning method, or existing members remain on miles-flown earning with one change allowed per year.
