What happened
Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines will add year-round Seattle nonstops to Osaka on May 14, 2027 and to Papeete on June 11, 2027, on Hawaiian Airbus A330-200s. Osaka runs four times a week, with the return from May 15. Papeete runs three times a week, with the return from June 12.
Alaska says the flights will be the only nonstops from Seattle to either city. Hawaiian already flies Honolulu to both cities. The Seattle flights use the same A330-200s with lie-flat business class, and connections will run over the combined Alaska and Hawaiian network.
The routes are part of a plan for Seattle to reach at least 15 long-haul destinations by 2030. Seattle already serves 103 nonstop destinations across North America. Award space is likely on the new widebody flights.
Watch for the May 2027 Osaka flights and the June 2027 Papeete flights to open for sale if a Seattle nonstop to Japan or Tahiti is the need.
