Oman has seemingly added a new entry rule requiring all nationals of the Philippines to obtain a negative HIV test before their flight departs. This requirement is now visible in Emirates’ visa and passport entry systems when selecting Filipino nationality and Oman as the destination. While mixed reports have circulated regarding Filipinos being denied boarding without the test, the Philippine Embassy in Muscat stated it had not yet received official confirmation from Omani authorities. However, the presence of the requirement in major airline systems suggests it is active. This is notable because Oman recently introduced visa-free entry for Filipinos to encourage tourism, yet is simultaneously adding this specific medical barrier. The policy singling out the Philippines aligns with data from the World Health Organization indicating the Philippines has the fastest-growing number of HIV cases in the Asia-Pacific region
