What happened
The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card offers two key elite benefits for the primary cardholder: automatic Platinum Elite status and 25 elite nights toward status annually. Platinum Elite status posts automatically to the account provided at application, typically within days of approval, though officially it can take 8-12 weeks. Status remains as long as the card is held and is cancelled immediately upon cancellation, though anecdotal reports suggest it may persist through the end of the status year (typically end of February). Platinum status includes room upgrades, complimentary breakfast at select brands, guaranteed 4 PM late check-out at non-resorts, and bonus points. Separately, the card grants 25 elite nights annually. These also post automatically, usually within days of approval or before March 1 in subsequent years. Unlike the Platinum status itself, these 25 nights are not consumed to maintain Platinum status but contribute toward higher tiers (e.g., Titanium or Ambassador). The 25-night benefit is exclusive to the primary cardmember and cannot be shared with authorized users. Cardholders can earn this benefit from one Marriott personal card and one Marriott business card
